Mill Site Manager - ME
Our client, one of the largest privately owned Forest Products producers in North America, is seeking a Mill Site Manager for their facility near Presque Isle, Maine. This individual will report directly to the General Manager. This plant's capabilities will be significantly upgraded in the near term and the Mill Site Manager will play a major role in implementing those improvements.
-Operation oversight and follow-up
-Monitors actual versus planned performance of manufacturing operations; pursues and implements remedies to problems
-Assumes ultimate responsibility for the quality of product, quality of the work place and quality of the results
-Capital Equipment Project Management - flow design and equipment installation experience - company will be making a $3 mm capital investment in the next 18 to 24 months to upgrade the processing capabilities of the facility. Project management of new equipment installations and processes; number crunching, diagramming, costing and efficiency analysis, etc
-Conduct and lead regularly scheduled staff meetings
-Monitor Finance issues and confer with the controller
-Monitor KPI and follow up on variances
-Monitor product shipments, down-time, costs and sales
-Coordinate organisational development
-Lead Process Improvement to enhance recovery, project engineering, chip quality, debarking, grade improvement and kiln throughput
-Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality
Required Qualifications
-Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
-Degree in Wood Product related subjects like Forest Products Manufacturing would be a plus, but not a pre-requisite
-Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, 5s or other manufacturing disciplines a plus
-4 to 6 years in a manufacturing environment, including 2 - 3 years of supervisory level manufacturing experience
This position will pay $80,000 to $100,000 depending on experience and credentials of the candidate. Excellent Large Company Insurance and fringe benefits will be offered as well as a very attractive relocation package and opportunity for advancement.
