Childbirth Instructor - Childbirth Education

Summary MaineHealth is seeking an experienced Childbirth Instructor to join their Portland, ME location.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a drive to provide a patient-centered experience to expectant parents in a Culturally Diverse Community.
Position Summary Teaches expectant parents or new families specific to the Childbirth Education Program.
Programs are predominantly taught on weeknights and weekends.
Integrates current information in childbirth education to support practice in the Family Birth Center.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Education:
N/A License/Certifications:
Current licensure and registration to practice professional nursing as required by the State of Maine, or certification as a Childbirth Educator or certification in appropriate specialty.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate from American Heart Association.
Experience:
Previous experience with teaching and Maternity Services background is preferred.
Public speaking ability to include the ability to present to large groups.
Ability to organize materials and teach efficiently and effectively.
Work as a member of the Childbirth Education team and be flexible and versatile.
Ability to work independently and reliably after typical business hours.
Strong interpersonal skills to teach formal programs and to advise clients and family members.
Knowledge of Family Birth Center practices is expected.
